The one-class configuration of the smallest one among the three Boeing 737 MAX 7 aircrafts allows accommodating 140 passengers, and the two-class version with 8 passengers in the business class is suitable for 126 passengers only. The Boeing’s 737 MAX 8 capacity was increased up to 175 and 162 passengers, accordingly. Here the first class already has 12 seats.  The Boeing’s 737 MAX 9 capacity is increased up to 204 and 180 passengers, accordingly, also with 12 first-class seats.

Boeing Business Jet 3 (BBJ 3)

Successful rise in sales of the long-haul passenger Boeing 737-900ER inspired designers to create a luxury business jet for corporate needs. Their efforts resulted in the upgraded business jet BBJ3 incorporating the best features of its baseline and produced following the BBJ2. The BBJ3 differs from the BBJ2 by 89% larger luggage hold and spacious passenger cabin. The usable cabin space was increased by 35%. The corporate BBJ3 was first supplied in 2006.

The corporate BBJ3 is equipped with eight fuel tanks, easily covering a range of 10 140 km with 8 passengers on board. Maximum fuel capacity is 26 025l. Permissible takeoff weight is limited to 85 140 kg. The BBJ3 body is made of light aluminum alloys and 7% of composites. The wings are equipped with winglets made by Aviation Partners Boeing also contributing to fuel economy, noise level reduction and cutting the maintenance costs. The BBJ3 dimensions appear to be greater than its baseline; however, it is capable of longer range and maintenance efficiency.

General Electric procures corporate Boeing business jets with its engines, having proposed an upgraded CFM 56-7B27 with thrust of 12 383 kgf for this version. The BBJ3 max speed is 890 km/h, with coursing speed of 850 km/h (0.8 Mach number). Reliable piloting of the aircraft is ensured by Rockwell Collins Avionics, which may be equipped with aircraft navigation system FANS, also available with NavLink (Teledyne). Boeing Business Jet 2 (BBJ 2)

The Boeing Business Jet series is a corporate variant of popular passenger jetliners for intercontinental operation. The BBJ2 was designed based upon the popular Boeing 737-800.  This liner is a partner development of the Boeing Company and General Electric designed for accommodation from 8 to 63 passengers in really luxurious conditions. This model was represented in October 1999, with first supply of the completed business jet in March 2001. Nowadays there are about 143 BBJ2 and BBJ3 aircrafts in operation, with total 163 units ordered for production.

As compared to its baseline, the BBJ2 offers 25% more space in the passenger cabin and double the cargo hold. The aircraft with 8 passengers on board covers a range up to 11 480 km without refilling at the average speed of 890 km/h. The elite corporate BBJ2 line ensures practical and comfortable zoning of the passenger cabin with a conference hall, study, lounge area or sitting-room and a large bedroom. Also there is a spacious lavatory with shower cabin on board and, if necessary, the conference hall may become a dining room. If necessary, there is an option of the BBJ2 with two private bedrooms or additional zoning of the sitting-room. The cockpit is equipped with HUD-display on the windshield and 6 multifunctional screens to display flight and on-board system status data. The multiwave Max-Viz IR sensors monitor the liner’s position and display the information obtained directly on HGS-4000 HUD.

The corporate Boeing version differs from the large-sized passenger 737 models by the greatly optimized air frame design. The hybrid tips mounted on the BBJ2 ensure 3-5% fuel saving as compared to the 737 series. The independent airstairs of the BBJ2 allow using even airports with limited land support. Usage of commercial airports is limited by the flight strip length– the BBJ2 requires at least 2 400 m for take-off run. The corporate Boeing is also equipped with extra fuel tanks providing fuel for long transatlantic flights. The BBJ2 was certified in compliance with ETOPS-180 –  the itinerary travel is defined at the distance of 3 hours of flight to the nearest suitable airport. This makes it possible to ensure safe landing even in case of emergency failure of any engine. The BBJ2 engine unit is represented by a pair of TFE General Electric CFM56-7B27 with thrust of 12 380 kgf each. The fuel tanks in the wing ensure fuel capacity of 26 025 l. 3-7 fuel tanks in addition may increase max fuel capacity up to 39 531 l. The BBJ2 covers 10 186 km with max load.

Boeing 777-300ER

The fourth version of the long haul passenger Boeing 777-300ER has first sailed up into the clouds at the beginning of 2003. The B777-300ER has become an extended version of the previous series 200. The upgraded design variant has become 10 meters longer and achieved the 40% lower operating costs than the baseline, and also gained the 33% efficiency in respect of fuel consumption. The project brought to life, the data analysis showed that the Boeing 777-300ER saves 1%more fuel than originally envisaged. That is to say, it is possible to save 402 724 l of avgas per each liner annually. It is no wonder that sales of the Boeing 777-300ER exceeded the designers’ expectations – today the Boeing 777 account for about 70% of all liners in this aviation segment. Technologically, the Boeing 777-300ER version has been deservedly recognized to be the most perfect in the world. Improved feed circuits of on-board systems, innovation avionics package, modernized flight management system and newly designed conditioning of the passenger cabin – all these factors show their efficiency during the first flight on the B777-300ER.

The Boeing’s 777-300ER takeoff weight increased to 344 500 kg due to installation of the two most powerful in civil aviation General Electric GE90-115BL1 engines with thrust of 57 700 kgf each. The B777-300ER is operated on the same level of complexity as the 300 series: takeoff, landing and manoeuvring are automatically adjusted by on-board systems and allow reduction of information load on the pilot.   

However, it takes much efforts for pilots and stewards to fly at a range up to 14 954 km.  There is a rest room for pilot and air stewards removed by the designers to the above-ceiling space of passenger compartment, especially for the crew team to have a rest and flight safety ensuring. Earlier its was planned to be on the main deck, but the reconfiguration ensured free space for 7 passenger seats having increased the aircraft’s payload capacity. The Boeing 777-300ER became capable to accommodate up to 364 passengers in the three-class configuration or 442 passengers in the two-class model. In the second case, the B777-300ER range is reduced to 13 750 km. Max jetliner speed is 965 km/h, and the coursing speed is about 905 km/h. 

Reconfiguration and using of the upper part of fuselage in the Boeing 777 300ER allowed free space for extra cargo. The cargo hold may accommodate 6 additional LD3-containers. In co-operation with direct customer it is possible to install the above-ceiling part of the cabin for storage of things or various equipment.

The Boeing’s 777-300ER digital equipment with enhanced computational power occupies less space now. The jetliner has special software Jeppesen EFB (Electronic Flight Bag). This enabled transfer of all data stored in hard copies into the mission computer of the Boeing 777 300ER. The pilots will be provided with more status information about flight progress and all on-board systems. Also, precision computation significantly reduces fuel consumption extending service life of engines and increases air operator’s profit by cutting operating costs and minimizing the quantity of flight delays.
