Boeing 777-200ER

As for design engineering, the Boeing Company has always been guided by passenger interests in the first place, thus making a basis for practical aircraft design bringing commercial profit to air companies. This strategy enabled the air company to make a comfortable and quiet Boeing 777-200ER – an up-to-date passenger liner for transcontinental flights.

The Boeing 777 200ER (Extra Range) has become an evolution of the B777 200 with significantly increased range and takeoff weight increased to 297 550 kg. The upgraded Boeing 777-200ER is capable of intercontinental operations at a range up to 14 305 km. In addition, the aircraft cabin may comfortably accommodate up to 440 passengers in the economy configuration. The Boeing 777 200ER version, with its cabin layout incorporating the first, economy comfort and economy classes, ensures max seating capacity of 314 passengers. The two-class configuration with business and economy class seats accommodates 400 passengers. This jetliner proved its reliability in practice:  On March 17, 2003 the Boeing 777-200ER performed a successful emergency flight with one engine during 177 minutes with 255 passengers.

The Boeing’s 777-200ER passenger cabin interior embodies a well-known style of Boeing Signature famous for capacious luggage facilities for carry-on bags and diffused indirect illumination. The windows are rather large – 38*25 cm, thus making seats at the beginning and at the end of each row very attractive. The armrest to armrest width of passenger compartment is 5.87 m. The cabin configuration arranged with 10 seats abreast ensures increased seating capacity and profit from flights. In this case, the passengers in the center of the middle row feel a little bit less comfortable. But comfy seats allow relaxing while in flight and even have a good sleep as low noise level and pleasant lighting create conditions for proper rest. Air companies often use an option of media entertainment systems in the Boeing 777 200ER jetliners, which will make a long-distance flight easy and swift-flowing. However, the secondary market offers sales of the Boeing 777-200ER without interactive displays for each passenger.

The main design purpose of the Boeing 777-200ER is to make an ergonomic and comfortable passenger jetliner for extra-long-range flights. The popular flights by the jetliner connect the following pairs of cities: Tokyo-Sidney, London-Los Angeles and Chicago-Seoul. The engine unit in the B777 200ER is represented by the two TFE Pratt & Whitney 4090 engines with thrust of 40 823 kgf. The Boeing 777 200ER is available in options with General Electric 90-94B engine with thrust of 42 502 kgf or Rolls-Royce Trent 895 engine with thrust of 42 366 kgf each.

In addition to passengers, the Boeing 777-200ER may accommodate cargoes. The cargo compartment capacity is 151 cubic meters and provides space for 6 pallets or 14 LD3 containers. There is some extra space of 17 cubic meters for loose and bulky cargo, the same as in the baseline Boeing 777-200. However, as compared to the baseline, the upgraded model has a high fuel capacity (171 170 l versus 117 340 l) for transcontinental operations.
