Boeing 777 Freighter

High demand among the world air companies for cargo liners with long flight range, efficient fuel consumption and as large capacity as possible made the Boeing Company meet the challenge. Already in May 2005, the company got the first order from the Air France for a cost effective and powerful Boeing 777 Freighter. And 4 years later, unbeaten by fuel efficiency and lifting capacity, the two-engine B777F was launched into operation setting a new standard in the sphere of all-freight service.

The Boeing’s 777 Freighter ample opportunities reflected the potential of its legendary baseline Boeing 777-200LR also known as the Worldliner. With max takeoff weight of 347 810 kg, the Boeing 777 Freighter is capable of commercial payload of 102 tonnes. The fully loaded B777F covers 9 070 km without refilling, and that makes it a leader among the twin-engined cargo liners for long-haul service. The Boeing’s 777 Freighter potential ensures significant cost saving for air companies: non-stop flights eliminate expenses for landing fee and waiting in crowded hub airports, ensure savings on cargo-handling operations and minimum time of cargo delivery to the point of destination.

The unprecedented opportunities of the Boeing 777 Freighter are revealed in practical use of its cargo capacity. For the first time ever, the twin-engined long-range jetliner is capable to accommodate 27 standard 2.5x3m pallets on its main deck. According to the industry-specific standard, the pallets of 3.1 m high are arranged near the cargo door allowing efficient use of all cargo carrier capacity. It is possible to accommodate 10 pallets and 17 cubic meters of loose or bulky cargo on the lower deck of the B777F.  The Boeing 777 Freighter is also equipped with fly-by-wire system and has an upgraded wing and wingtips design. The B777F’s engine unit is represented by the two all-powerful General Electric GE90-110B1 engines with thrust of 48 946 kgf. This enables the jetliner to speed up to 945 km/h and maintain the coursing speed of 905 km/h typical for the Boeing 777 line. As for dimensions, the Boeing 777 is almost the same as the Boeing 777-200LR, being the second only in range and fuel capacity. Max fuel capacity for the loaded Boeing 777 Freighter is 181 280 l per flight.

Sales of the B777F are popular with every air operator interested in maximum benefit per each tonne-kilometer. The Boeing 777 Freighter proved to be the most economically advantageous freight air transport, with cargo capacity of 636 cubic meters, making it possible to achieve remarkable reduction of operating and maintenance costs. Low noise level allows using even those airports raising strict requirements to this parameter. Considering the saltation in cargo air service reached by launching the Boeing 777 Freighter, we can predict that sales of aircrafts of this version will gradually result in driving the less efficient versions out of the market (747-200F and MD-11F).
