The Embraer Legacy 500: The future of middle class business aviation.

With test flights completed in 2013 and the results released to global business aviation markets in the same year, the Embraer Legacy 500 business jet is almost available. The sale of aircrafts of this model has been planned for the year ahead: the line of everyone wishing to acquire The Embraer’s unprecedented masterpiece became a clear indication of its advantages. Indeed, the sharp-nosed, elegant Legacy 500 has opened up unparalleled opportunities for private and corporate clients, offering charter flights.

The Embraer Legacy 500 offers new levels of categories for medium size business jets. For the “average” jet, The Embraer Legacy 500 has the widest passenger cabin and electronic remote control system “fly-by-wire”. To understand the significance of this system, it can be compared with the contribution of the GPS to global navigation. Control of the aircraft through the panel in the cockpit is implemented through radio signals to systems of the business jet. New technologies have improved maneuverability of the Legacy 500 jet, improved its handling quality as well as the level of flight safety.

In the cockpit, the Embraer Legacy 500 shows a minimalistic dashboard and the latest avionics Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion. Development of the aircraft happened literally from scratch, and the direction taken was to satisfy demands and wishes of users and potential buyers of the Embraer. In front of the pilots, there are four 15.1” monitors, an integrated flight status data processing system, a high-frequency communication system, an artificial vision system, a graphical flight planning system, a set to prevent possible collisions in the sky, a solid-state meteorological radar and a VOR / DME navigation system.

Passengers who prefer charter flights on The Embraer Legacy 500 certainly note the level of interior comfort, which can only be compared with large-size models of business aviation. The interior of the Embraer Legacy 500 jet is designed to comfortably accommodate up to eight people, and has 8 chairs, located opposite each other in pairs. There is an option of layout of the cabin with lounge area – this has a soft three-seat sofa.

The range of the Embraer Legacy 500 with two crew members and four passengers on board was set at 5,556 kilometers. With eight passengers on board, the range falls to 5,190 kilometers. The maximum speed is Mach 0.83 index (870 kilometers per hour), and cruising speed is Mach 0.82 (710 kilometers per hour) due to two Honeywell HTF7500E engines with a thrust of 2.97 each. The Embraer Legacy 500 jet performs a flight at an altitude of 13,716 meters. The Embraer Legacy 500 is perfectly operated in private airports with short runways. For taking-off, the sufficient runway will be of 1,402 meters and 732 meters – for landing.
The manufacturer claims that comfort of passengers in the Embraer Legacy 500 jet is a fine line between long-haul and medium size jets and super mid-jets. By the size of the passenger compartment, it is slightly inferior to the Gulfstream G280 and the Bombardier Challenger 300. However, flight characteristics of the Legacy 500 jet make it their major competitor.
