Airbus A330-200F

Profitable and economically advantageous in service, the Airbus A330 Freighter has been confidently taking the lead among the cargo freighters since 2010. The aircraft of this modification had been ordered three years prior to its first commercial flight. Air companies and operators bet on the medium-sized freight carrier by comparing its practical capabilities, and were right. Sales of the Airbus A330-200F on the secondary market are still growing. The Airbus A330 Freighter is an embodied flexibility, time-proved reliability and means for air cargo transportations for long and medium haul operations.

Every day hundreds of thousands of various cargoes are dispatched on each populated continent. This can be done by land or water, and also air transport can be used. The difference lies in relation of time and costs, as well as cargo damage risks during transportation. The Airbus A330-200F launched on the aviation market in 2007 turned a notion of profitable air service upside down. The reliability rate of this version is 99.6% with 400 flight hours per month. Considering the average annual growth rates of demand for air service and customer needs, the medium-sized freighter sales will be somewhat less than a half of all transactions. And the Airbus A330-200F has already occupied almost entire segment of this market due to its airlift capacity and economic feasibility. The Airbus’ A330-200F payload is 70 tonnes, with its range limited by the radius of 5 930 kilometers. With 65 tonnes loaded, the range will be 7 400 kilometers.

The engine unit in the Airbus A330 Freighter may be represented by the two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 TFEs with a thrust of 32 223 kilograms of force each or two Pratt & Whitney PW4000 with a thrust of 31 713 kilograms of force each. The General Electric has no plans to supply engines for this version.

The Airbus A330-200F freight compartment is perfectly adapted to accommodate standard containers of all sizes and pallets side by side. As compared to its competitors, the aircraft has a reinforced floor and a 30% larger cargo compartment. The offered liner enables transportation of high-value consumer goods and perishables. The cargo compartment floor is also designed to ensure comfortable cargo transportation.

Cargo transportation strategies used by the Airbus A330-200F have a definite flexibility that is why it is possible to save maintenance costs up to 35% per tonne as compared to large freighters. In view of crisis, transportation capacities were notably reduced, which impacted the large size cargo liners. But the new Airbus liner will allow load optimization for various haul routes, taking into account air transportation seasonality and unbalanced cargo flow. The Airbus A330-200 Freighter makes it possible to distribute loading level depending on points of destination by performing non-stop flights on medium haul routes, with optimal planning of refueling landing to balance cargo traffic. For example, 40 tonnes of cargo can be transported by non-stop flight from Frankfurt to Peking, with 69 tonnes loaded in return and a refueling landing planned in Astana.
