Boeing 737-700

The first-birth version of the B737 New Generation Family was designed against the baseline 737-300 and was originally called Boeing 737 300X. The reconfigured version inherited only appearance of the technologically obsolete 737-300. The Boeing’s 737-700 avionics, engine unit, flight performance and cabin interior are completely different as compared to its predecessor. The new passenger aircraft has taken its place in the narrow-bodied segment and today it is justly proud of reliable short and medium haul operations.

The upgraded next generation aircraft finally became known as Boeing 737-700, with its name associated with high-speed and comfortable flights. The Boeing 737-700 was designed to accommodate up to 149 passengers in the tourist version or 128 passengers in the two-class cabin configuration. Travellers are attracted both by reliability of flights on the Boeing 737 700 and maximum comfort when flying. Spacious quiet cabin, large windows, convenient luggage hold location, wide seats adaptable for user anatomy, and skillfully arranged lighting providing a feeling of large space – all these are important factors making a notion of comfortable flight and successfully combined in the Boeing 737-700.

The Boeing’s 737-700 flight performance is a result of upgraded tail fins, highly efficient wing, engine unit and optimized avionics. The flight control system installed in the cockpit is the same as in the previous versions, with its architecture being more alike the Boeing’s 777 on-board system. The digital system of flight instruments used in the Boeing 737-700 has been developed by the well-known Honeywell. The pilots are able to monitor the state of all important systems during their flight due to 6 LCD displays. Additionally, a HUD system may be installed on the Boeing’s 737-700 windscreen, which reduces information load on the pilot displaying symbolic information directly on the windscreen against the background.

The two powerful СFМ International CFM56-7B20 engines (7B22 and 7В24 modifications possible) with thrust of 9080 kgf each (10000 and 10915, accordingly) speed up the Boeing 737 700 up to 978 km/h. The coursing speed is around 925 km/h at high level. The reinforced wing is 124.6 sq m by area, with a span of 34.31 m, which provides high efficiency with the aircraft’s length of 33.64m.  Maximum flying range of the new version is 6 370 km with 126 passengers or 6 040 km with full load of 149 passengers.  The upper takeoff weight limit of the Boeing 737-700 is around 70 800 kg.

Sales of the Boeing 737-700 exceeded expectations. Against successful original version, the developers offered the Boeing 737-700ER (Extended Range) on the market featuring the underframe borrowed from the B737 800, a wing with sharklets and almost doubled range of 10 502 km. Max seating capacity for accommodation in the Boeing 737-700ER is 126 passengers.

Based upon the Boeing 737-700, the design corporation produced an administrative version known as the BBJ and suitable for comfortable flights of 30-50 passengers within a radius of 11 000 km.
